What I Wish I Knew Before Raising My First Puppy

What I Wish I Knew Before Raising My First Puppy

Raising a puppy is one of the most beautiful experiences we get to share in life…but it can also feel surprisingly overwhelming.

Most people don’t expect the biting, the stealing, the barking, the chewing, the pulling, the zoomies, the meltdowns and suddenly they wonder:

“Is this normal?”

“Am I doing something wrong?”

“Why does nothing seem to work?”

I’ve been there too.

A little piece of my story

When I rescued Molly, I loved her deeply but I didn’t understand her. She barked at every sound; stole food whenever I turned around; pulled me down the street; ignored every recall. And sometimes, out of fear, she even tried to bite.

I kept thinking I was failing her. I didn’t know what she needed…and she didn’t know how to tell me in a way I could understand.

What I really needed (and didn’t have) was someone to explain things clearly and kindly: why puppies behave the way they do, how their emotions work, how to support them without pressure, how to set boundaries that make life easier for both of us.

That is the course I wish existed back then.

And that is why I created Your Puppy’s Best Start.

How everything changed with Nala

Years later, when Nala came into my life, I finally had the knowledge I wished I had with Molly.

I understood her body language and knew how to support her emotions. I finally understood why biting happens, why puppies steal, how they struggle with impulse control, why walking nicely is so hard at first.

Raising Nala wasn’t “easier” because she was a perfect dog. It was easier because I had the right tools.

And when I look at her today…the calm, the trust, the communication, the connection…I know exactly what a difference it makes when you start on the right foot.

Why this course exists

I created Your Puppy’s Best Start because I kept receiving calls form puppy parents who were overwhelmed and confused by conflicting advice, thinking their puppy was stubborn. They were trying their best, but ended up unintentionally reinforcing the wrong things. In the end, they felt guilty and frustrated, in desperate need for clarity.

Your puppy needs guidance, safety, understanding and, most of all, a calm, confident human who knows how to support them providing the right outlets with boundaries.

Inside the course, I share the exact foundations that changed everything in my own journey:

  • How to prevent future behavioral struggles
  • How to build impulse control through simple, daily moments
  • How to reduce biting and stealing with kindness
  • How to understand body language and emotional needs
  • How to create connected, pressure-free walks
  • How to raise a puppy who feels safe and secure

This isn’t just about training. It’s about building a relationship that makes your life together easier, fulfilling and full of joy.
